Exercising on a Empty Stomach Does It Help Burn More Fat

Quite a few people these days, particular fitness individuals, etc. Have long held the belief that if you exercise on an empty stomach. It will help you to burn more fat. The reason for this supposedly is if your body has no food in it then it will start to use its fat stores when you start to work out.

The wisdom behind this kind of thinking is that instead of using carbohydrates for fuel. When you are working out it forces your body to use its own body fat. Or so the theory goes. So as a consequence, you tend to burn more fat.

Some recent research though has come to light, which suggests otherwise, which was published in Strength and Conditioning Journal, they found that you burn the same amount of fat. Regardless of whether you eat a meal or not. So there are no real gains to having nothing to eat before you start to do some kind of exercise. If you do decide to exercise like this, then you are far more likely to lose muscle, which is the exact opposite of what you are trying to achieve.

It would seem that without sufficient fuel your exercise session, won’t be as beneficial compared to if you eat something beforehand from what they say your exercise won’t be as efficient. And neither will be the amount of calories that you burn.

In one of the studies, which was looked at in the report cyclists were monitored whom had nothing to eat before a ride. They were found to be using up calories from protein as well as lost muscle. In another similar study which was put together in 2002 some women who ate 45 grams of carbohydrates before their workout, didn’t eat as much food throughout their whole day. After you feel comfortable with the movements (and they're really quite easy to follow; nothing too complicated to trip you up), you're ready to move on to Tae-Bo: Basics, a 27-minute workout (5 minutes of warm-up, 18 minutes of Tae-Bo, and 4 minutes of cool-down) that will have your heart pounding and your body sweating. Blanks, a seven-time World Martial Arts champion, is a superb instructor, providing encouragement and careful instruction (if you don't know by the end of the tape to hold in your stomach, that's no one's fault but your own). The only downside to these tapes is the less-than-exciting music. Not only is Tae-Bo great exercise for all levels, but the punches and kicks are wonderful for working out stress and aggression. Gifts of the Angels, a 68-minute compilation (sampling eight albums and adding two original pieces), offers a few nuggets that suggest Halpern's music at times can stand on its own merits, detached from all of its deep-bliss, New Age pretensions. "Celestial Prophecy," is a nicely detailed (which is not to say complex) excursion on solo piano that briefly stirs the senses, and the title track from Higher Ground is a delicate space-music standout. Meanwhile, the 1970s-flashback tonality of Halpern's electric piano (one piece, "Earthrise," can be traced to Halpern's debut release, Spectrum Suite) dates several of the tracks included here. Nevertheless, the disc's pace, which drifts deeper into the ether on each of the last five tracks, is nicely constructed for those aiming to nod off into a state of contented nothingness. --Terry Wood

Exercise How and Why It Makes Us Feel Good

One of the great benefits of exercising is how good it makes us feel after doing it. However, nobody ever really has looked into it in great depth, to find out why. So in this post, we are going to look at some of the mechanisms and the how’s and why’s of why it makes us feel so good after doling it.

A typical example of this is a study that was put together inNorway, where participants were compared side-by-side one group exercised. However, although there is beautiful scenery inNorway, and plenty of places to explore those that didn’t exercise had poorer mental health. Compared to those who did exercise.

Another study which was put together by theAmericanSportsCollege, found that a group of women. When they exercised on a bicycle or did resistance training felt less anxious than they did previously having been diagnosed with anxiety disorder. Even now, in this day and age, scientists still don’t know the reasons why and how exercise affects our brains on a basic cellular level. However, another study has managed to unlock some of the mysteries surrounding this.

This study was put together by the National Institute Of Mental Health, which did various experiments with mice to see how it affected them. If they were in a stressful situation, they used two types of mice with different personalities. One was very aggressive and dominating the others were introverted and quiet. The more dominant alpha mice had their own cages.

They put the two mice together within the cage, which had a clear partition the aggressive mouse tried every territorial tactic to make the other mouse feel bullied and intimidated. The reason they tend to behave like this is because in the wild male mice tend to be loners.

When the researchers removed the clear partition, they had to restrain the more aggressive mouse to stop it from hurting the other quieter one. Because the other mouse had been exposed to so much aggression it started to twitch and behaved submissively.

They kept the mice together in the partitioned cage for two weeks, the scientists then tried putting them in stressful situations to monitor their behaviour in each instance. They ran for cover and exhibited what the scientists called anxiety type behaviours.

One of the scientists said that they didn’t actually become depressed, but showed symptoms of being so. However a second group of mice, which had been exercising and generally more active on mouse wheels as well as exploring plastic tubes.

Behaved very differently when they were put together with the aggressive mouse, when confronted by it. They just moved away and carried on as normal as though nothing had happened. When they were put in unfamiliar situations similar to the other mice. They didn’t run into corners to hide and didn’t twitch either.

The scientists concluded that the mouse which exercised had become stress free, one of the scientists said that people exposed to anxiety over a long period of time can cause depression. Something the researchers struggled to understand for a long time now is how some people are more resilient to it than others. So after the study was over, they decided to look a bit more deeply at what was going on in the mouse’s brains.

They had a look at their brain cells, particularly the ones whom had been exercising. And this is what they found, in the part of the brain that is called the medial prefrontal cortex which handles our emotions. And has connections to the amygdala, which handles feelings of anxiety and fear, in the mice who had been exercising, these neurons had been firing more often during the weeks. When they had been exercising, compared to the mice who hadn’t their brain shows cells showed hardly any firing at all.

One of the scientists involved in the study Dr Lehman, said that even though the research was done on mice. He believes there could be some links with people as well. In human relations. He also went on to say that in order to get the same benefit you do not need to spend hours exercising all the time.

Even if it is 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there. You will still gain some benefits, both from a physical and mental point of view. CLA is not a Magic Compound

They say CLA supplements effect insulin and blood glucose levels in the body. Now first of all if you have diabetes of course you wouldn’t want your insulin and blood glucose effected to rise. If you don’t have diabetes, they say it may affect the heart of healthy people. When we check out the scientific literature we can find no study that shows CLA fat burners are bad for human health.

CLA is the short form of conjugated linoleic acid. This acid is being used as a nutritional supplement. Especially body builders use it to help them while building muscle and decrease the fat layers in their bodies. Conjugated linoleic acid is also used by people who are not building muscles but who want to lose weight. The people who are working out and exercising regularly also know better about their health history or conditions. However people using pills or supplements for weight loss don’t even ask their doctor if they could use certain compounds. If you ask these people why they don’t speak to their doctors about the pills they are planning to take, they usually answer that their doctor doesn’t let them use pills for weight loss.

CLA has many benefits for the people who want to lose weight and those who want to build muscles. We wrote in the first paragraph that there are no studies that show CLA has bad effects to human health. However there are studies that show the benefits of this molecule. In a study made in the University of Wisconsin Medison, Dr. Michael Pariza showed some of the benefits. In a medical meeting for American Chemical Society, he said that CLA doesn’t help big fat cells get smaller but it helps small fat sells stay small. In his study the participant lost weight and those who gained back some of their lost weight did not gain fat but they gained muscles.

According to scientific studies CLA caused an increase in the metabolic rate which is a very good thing for thyroid patients whose metabolic rate is slowed down because of their illnesses. It also decreased fat in the abdominal regions of the body. Another benefit of CLA was found to be a significant increase in the muscle rate. Cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the people using CLA found to decrease while their immune systems enhanced. Allergic reactions induced by the foods consumed were also reduced significantly.

Like every other supplement CLA is also not enough to lose weight or build muscle if you don’t support it with relevant exercise and diet. Everybody would like to lose weight while eating normally or muscles builders would like to build muscle while watching television on the sofa.

However it is not possible. For muscle builders, CLA supplements must be taken with other necessary things like proteins and exercise. For those who will use this compound as CLA fat burners, to be careful about what they eat is very important. They also should make regular exercises and be careful about their diets even after they lose the weight they wanted.

It’s a well-known fact that one of the problems when you get older is you tend to lose muscle mass, which really is something we need to try and keep hold of the main the reason being is that muscle tends to be active tissue.

When we lose muscle it can be connected with illness and ageing, you can be in a hospital because of it, and your stay may be longer than you need, because of this particular problem.

Some researchers reported their findings about muscle in a publication called Cell Metabolism, to try and find out what happens to muscle when it deteriorates. They looked at various aspects of what happens. The in-depth research, found 63 genes, which are responsible for it happening.

Both mice and people can suffer from the same problem. They also found 29 other genes, which were connected as well. Further research led them to look at something called ursolic acid, which tends to be present in apples, which is in the peel.

Scientists gave ursolic acid to mice who were fasted, when the scientists included this in their diet. Their muscles started to grow as well as this happening other things followed their blood sugar was lower, as well as decreased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.

One of the researchers involved in this particular study said he wasn’t sure whether, it would translate into human subjects, but nevertheless, it was a very interesting find he says. So it would seem that an apple a day does keep the doctor away as well as keeping other diseases at bay one of the great things about apples is they contain a lot of fibre, which acts like a gel in your stomach. 5 Reasons Why Your Stomach Is Not Flat Yet

If you want to get flat abs anytime soon you don’t just need to get some things right, you also need to avoid getting some things wrong.

In this post I will talk about some of the common reasons why you don’t have flat abs today. Knowing what may be keeping you from having the flat stomach you want will allow you to eliminate these “bad things” and change your body for the better.

1. Too Much Stress

While we all know, on a theoretical level, that stress is bad for you and may pose health risks, most people are not aware that too much stress can actually make it harder for you to get flat abs.

The reason why stress spells trouble is that when you experience stress your body releases high doses of Cortisol, which is also known as the stress hormone. When high levels of Cortisol are present, your body naturally stores more fat in your abdomen. As we live in a time in which stress is very common, it is not surprising that many people find it hard to get rid of their excess belly fat.

2. Drinking Your Calories

When it comes to calories it often seems that people are simply unaware of what they drink. They consider their solid food as their source of calories, not knowing that what they drink can add hundreds of calories to their waistline and may be what pushes them into a calorie surplus which leads to weight gain.

Two of the main culprits are cocktails and fancy coffees. Some of these drinks are loaded in calories and sugar and can make any workout you do practically pointless. You will simply need to train much harder to burn all these extra calories.

3. Bad eating habits

Note that I’m not talking about the food itself but your general habits. Some of them can make it more difficult for you to get a flat stomach. Among the worst habits I can list:

Skipping meals – Because this tends to make you hungrier when you do eat so you may end up consuming too many calories overall.

Not watching your portion size – Eating good food is important but how much you eat of it also is. Over the past few decades the average size of plates has grown and with it the size of our portion has increased as well. People tend to fill up their plates and eat everything that’s on them. If you want to get lean, you have to watch your portion sizes.

Not eating breakfast – I recommend eating a good sized breakfast with a portion of protein as it serves as the starting point of your day. I find that on days in which I eat a good breakfast I’m more energetic and less hungry.

4. Fat Vs. Calories

For years millions of people have been educated to be attracted to low-fat foods. It’s as if fat is the main problem which causes you to gain weight. It’s not. Calories are the issue.

Whether you gain weight or lose it is determined by one thing only: your calorie balance. If you consume more than you burn you will gain weight, if it’s the other way around you will lose it. Don’t be misled by low-fat or low-sugar foods. They can still be rich in calories and various unhealthy ingredients. Remember, calories are what you need to watch out for the most.

5. Ineffective Workouts

In order to have flat abs you have to do intense workouts. Many people seem to go through the motions when they workout. They don’t really put their heart into it. If you want to see results you will need to put in a lot of work.

One of the big mistakes that I see people make is that they spend too much time doing cardio and too little on doing strength training exercises. This is a mistake. While cardio can be an effective way to burn fat, strength training must be a part of your routine.

Strength training helps to build muscle, boost your metabolism, and increase fat burning.

In Conclusion

Take the 5 reasons I’ve outlined above and make sure that they’re not a part of your life. If you take action to avoid these mistakes and correct your habits, you will find it much easier to have flat abs.

Can You Build Muscles Using the Power of Your Mind

Even now in this day and age scientists are still unlocking the secrets between the mind and body connection.  And exactly how our minds, can affect our bodies, and how they perform. So is it possible that by the mere power of thought.  You can actually increase your muscle mass.

This may not seem as far fetched as you might think it has to be said that we under estimate greatly the power that our minds have over our bodies.

It’s always been perceived that we have to do some kind of physical activity using our muscles, combined with resistance, which breaks down the muscle fibres. So they regrow again, this is how muscle tissue is formed.However, two researchers at a University have come to the conclusion that muscle building doesn’t necessarily need to be a mechanical process, which tends to turn conventional thinking on its head.

The research conducted by the two scientists who are Erin M. Shackell and Lionel G. Standing, found conclusive proof that just by doing imaginary workouts in your mind. You can actually have gains in strength. They had three groups, one that did nothing the second one called the exercise group trained three times a week.

The third group did no exercise and imagined they were doing exercises much the same as the exercise group by listening to a cd. But not actually physically doing anything.  When the researchers looked at the results, they were stunned by what they saw.

The group that did nothing had no gains, which is to be expected the second group had an increase of 28 percent, and the third group had an increase of 24 percent, which is really quite amazing when you consider what they did, absolutely nothing from a physical point of view.

Aren’t those just amazing results another study of a similar nature yielded yet more interesting finding’s, hotel staff were monitored and told that what they were doing qualified as exercise. So this resulted in a self fulfilling prophecy, and they now considered their work to be like an exercise programme.

After monitoring the staff for a period of time and getting the results back. The results were impressive to say the least the following changes were found. They had reduced BMI, blood pressure, and body fat percentage as well as a lower hip to waist ratio.

A second group, who was told nothing and just went about their work as normal had no changes at all. So by just thinking that, what they were doing was classed as exercise. It had that effect on their bodies as stated above.

Although this is fascinating research it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can just make your muscles grow by thinking about it. However, what it does throw up in the air is your state of mind can have a very big impact on the results that you’re getting overall.

Perhaps using this in conjunction with your workout routine may be able to help you as it certainly does seem the case with the information presented from both studies. It still remains to say though. However, there are still benefits to physical exercise, and actually doing it.
